Absence from Island is a young and award-winning architectural & design practice founded in 2020 by registered architect Chi, together with other architects. Its work is a direct reflection of the teams’ diverse working experience and education background, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, London, Madrid. For two years, Absence from Island has already gained recognition both locally and internationally. Our work has been published by SCMP, Dezeen, Designboom, Archdaily, Architectural Digest, Detail magazine etc. And The Studio has also won numerous awards within its short establishment, including the INSIDE Award of World Festival of Interiors and Good Design Award in Japan.

​We are a group of design collectives and professional, such as architect, artist, interior designer, photographer and other design disciplines. Our team is both creative and professional which make sure that projects can go through in a professional way. We are simply perfectionist and passionated that we exploring the fundamental core in each project and pushing the boundary of different design disciplines. Our aim is always creating the extraordinary and unique design for the world. We are concept driven and experimental design studio. While function and beauty is our duty, our design approach always come with story. Our project would express unique scneary atmosphere that correlated with the story.

Our Studio could provide tailor-made design services for experience clients and corporates.
Or we can lead you through our structural and professional design/construction procedures:

A - Design Consultation Meeting: Meeting in our office to understand the need of your project. You may let us know your vision, needs, constraints, or anything you think of. And We share our experiences and thoughts, together we explain the procedure of the whole project.

 

B - Budget Estimation: Based on the extent of the project, we will calculate the design & management fee, together with the construction budget with item rate for the client to estimate the whole project cost. Or vice versa, you can kindly let us know your budget to see how it can be worked out.

 

C - Design Development: We will guide through clients our professional design process. Design stages are provided so that we can make sure the final outcome will match the direction of the project. We are confident with our design.

D - Tendering & Contracting: Based on the complexity of the design, we will find a suitable construction team for the projects. Clients are welcome to quote for other contractors for comparing the cost of construction.

E - Construction Management: Construction management is important. We will provide site supervision and management throughout the construction to make sure everything could go through smoothly with communication.

F - Handover of the Site: After the construction completes, we will visit the site together with clients for inspection and provide a schedule of defects. Recertification would be carried out with our recommended builders.
